About me

Hello, and welcome to my website! I am Naren Chandran Sakthivel. I am a computational biologist—pursuing a Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Science in Prof. Nagasuma Chandra’s lab.

I completed an Integrated Master’s (2012-2017) in Biomedical Science from Bharathidasan University and received formal training as a molecular biologist. During this time, I did multiple internships focused on cancer biology:

  1. Summer 2015: Prof. Kumaresan Ganesan, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai
  2. Summer 2016: Prof. Rajkumar Banerjee, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad
  3. Winter 2016-Spring 2017: Prof. Shilpee Dutt, The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, Navi Mumbai

I picked up programming as a hobby around 2015, which allowed me to take on computational projects at MKU and ACTREC. This provided a smooth transition to my current role as a graduate student at the Indian Institute of Science, where my work revolves around using various computational techniques to explore the determinants of CD8+ T-cell recognition of solid tumors.

I like to program and have extensive experience in R, Python, and C. You can find my projects at Gitlab and GitHub.

Some of the stuff I’ve done include:

  1. scriptloc
  2. gexpquery
  3. gexpauto
  4. nbslR
  5. libnpcl
